One sheet (draft)

I designed a draft of the 'One Sheet' design document to help us get started on the actual GDD (Game Design Doc)

Flint
And the Curse of Master Beakwynn
(Wii U, Xbox One, PS4)

Target audience:
Age 6-13 (to be researched in depth). Young people that enjoy the likes of Spyro, Lego City: Undercover, Disney Infinity. As well as players that enjoyed Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Country and Mario 64.

Pegi:
6 (to be researched in depth)

Game Summary:
Master Beakwynn has cast a spell and entranced almost every animal in the forest. Take control of Flint, a young and adventurous bird boy that will stop at nothing to save his friends and break the evil spell. Travel from the underground mole town to the village in the tree tops. From Flint’s hometown in the forest to a magical settlement by the lakes. Use Flint’s slingshot to take out enemies and solve puzzles, and face enchanted level bosses to break Master Beakwynn’s curse.

Distinct Modes of Gameplay:
In this 3D platformer players will have to rely on well timed jumps and attacks to avoid being killed. In addition players will have access to Flint’s slingshot which can be loaded with a variety of fruit or nuts. Each different type of ‘ammo’ will have a different effect such as stun, stick, scare. Whilst using the slingshot the controls will change from a 3rd Person style to a 1st Person style camera (possibly not entirely 1st Person).
Players will be able to collect golden seeds spread around the level to purchase items such as health or ammo from a merchant. There will also be Mario Golden Star style collectables which can be used to unlock further levels. Collecting one of these will trigger the winstate and take the player back to the Hub from which they can either jump back into the same level or chose another.

Unique selling points:
  • A Unique art style featuring animals as the civilised residents of a magical forest.
  • Choices on how to approach combat. Learn to use different ammo against your enemies or combine them with a melee attack. Players will be able to create their own play style and experiment with combinations of different attacks. All kept in a simplified user interface for all ages to enjoy.

Competitive Products:
Spyro, Lego Games, Disney Infinity, Mario 3D World/Land, Yoshi’s Wooly World.
